In the initials, Montreal is going to be cooler in the upcoming days.
A life without an art is not worthy of living. To drag art out of artistic institutions and express it in an everyday life, is something highly valuable. This is what Montreal is going to do for the forthcoming days. It is going to host something it hasn’t done before. Yes, an underground art festival is going to happen very soon in the city.
The festival is a plan of Art Sou-terrain, a non-profit organization, working since 2009 for the modern art, artists, and the cultural heritage of Montreal’s underground city.
For its 10th anniversary, the organization is planning for an art festival showcasing artistic abilities of 94 local and international artists with 98 projects.
The theme of this year’s festival is Work, representing all types of jobs and labors.
Art Souterrain on its website said, “Whether paid, volunteer, food, bureaucratic, worker, regulated or abusive, it paces our lives and defines our social condition. Depending on the country, the culture or the economic reality, work is perceived and lived differently.”
Added in it, “Artists invited to present their works this year try to illustrate this diversity, both by their origins and by adopting a point of view, sometimes poetic, sometimes humorous but often critical.”
The best part of the festival is that each installation will be put on a display on a different underground tunnel in Montreal, making it thrill in the chilling weather. Art Sou-terrain's festival will cover several kilometers of the underground tunnel and 9 satellite spaces around the city as well.
